Vintage Style Icon: Faye Dunaway

Written By Arman Zulhajar on Monday, June 20, 2011 | 9:27 PM

There have been countless fashion editorials inspired by Faye Dunaway as Bonnie Parker in the 1968 film "Bonnie & Clyde" with Warren Beatty, but honestly, nothing beats the original. I love her wardrobe in the entire film, especially the first cream colored dress she wears when she runs out of the house to meet Clyde. It's a definite vintage movie must see, and if you're into the story of Bonnie + Clyde, I recommend reading more about them on Biography.com

Faye Dunaway has one of those gorgeous chameleon faces. She can look different but still always look like herself all at the same time. Kind of like Kate Moss, one moment she's girl next door pretty the next moment a total bombshell.

"I often say the last role I played that really touched me and where I was able to access what I really am was Bonnie, which is kind of sad when you think how early in my career that was." - Faye Dunaway

Vintage Style Icon: Betty Grable

Written By Arman Zulhajar on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 | 11:06 AM

I first fell in love with Betty Grable and her most charming smile in the 1953 movie "How to Marry A Millionare" with Marilyn Monroe and Lauren Bacall. Then I saw "Pin Up Girl" and "Moon Over Miami" and thought she was just so cute. What's is your favorite Betty Grable movie?

Betty Grable had the most famous legs in Hollywood and were insured for $1,000,000 by Llyods of London. It's interesting that in our times her legs would be considered on the curvy side. In my opinion she still has amazing legs!

Grace Kelly Style

Grace Kelly epitomizes New England elegance; wholesome, preppy, and clean. Most of you are probably aware that Hermes named one of their bags the "Kelly" bag after a photo of her appeared in LIFE magazine in 1956. The bag was originally called 'Sac à dépêches' and it first came out in 1935.

Vintage Style Icon: Katherine Hepburn

Katherine Hepburn Vintage Style Icon

With stout resolve, she almost single-handedly broke down the dress code for women by insisting on wearing men’s trousers on set and off, everywhere and all the time. Her style was so informal and untraditional that she never, even after becoming a star, owned a dress or skirt of her own. One of her many awards came from the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 1986 – in recognition of her role as non-conformist in modern fashion.

Vintage Style Icon: Rita Hayworth

Written By Arman Zulhajar on Saturday, November 20, 2010 | 8:08 AM

Rita Hayworth wasn't always the auburn haired sex symbol most famously remembered as being the vampy "Gilda", she was born Margarita Carmen Cansino in Brooklyn to a flamenco dancer father and a Ziegfield girl dancer for a mother.

Margarita was put through an extensive makeover (her hairline was raised via a series of very painful electrolysis treatments...this was in the 40s folks!), asked to lose 30 lbs, and dye her naturally dark hair to auburn (she was also blonde and red haired at some points) and change her name so she sounded and looked less Latina.

And voila! A star is born!

What Audrey Hepburn Wore to the 1967 Oscars

Written By Arman Zulhajar on Saturday, June 26, 2010 | 6:40 PM

Nominated for "Best Actress in Leading Role" at the 1967 Academy Awards for "Wait Until Dark", Audrey Hepburn always dazzled at the Oscars with her classic and feminine style.

Although she didn't bring home the coveted golden statue (the award went to the other Hepburn, Katherine), Audrey Hepburn looked impeccable in her Oscar ensemble.

At the 1967 Academy Awards, Audrey Hepburn wore a two piece ensemble designed by Gubert De Givenchy.

It consisted of a sparkling vest with white flower embellishments that allowed a peek at Audrey Hepburn's navel. A giant white bow tied at the vest that was decorative enough so Audrey could forego a necklace. The vest was accompanied by a long, floor grazing white skirt that was very slim in cut.
