Unfortunately, people usually have a love for different animals which means that they will have to end up living together under the same room. Cats and dogs in the same house can work out if you follow a few basic guidelines. You can make what would be a chaotic mess into a home filled with peace if you are careful.

Many pet professionals recommend that animals of different species are introduced to each other at an early age. They say that introducing an animal to another animal before they are six months of age is ideal for best result. Cats can be very possessive, so try to get them acquainted first.

Most professionals believe that after the introductions are made, the animals can actually learn each others language over time. You might find them sharing a water bowl or even a couch once they have adjusted to each other. It all depends on how well they do when they are introduced.

Most of the fighting that can occur happens because of territorial issues. After they have marked their boundaries and set up their perimeters, sometimes an agreement can be reached between the pair. This is why later, you can find that some of these pets are willing to share a couch together.

Bringing animals together of different species is never easy. If you have the patience, you can wait it out as they get to know each other and begin to adapt to each other's surroundings. You can help by encouraging friendly play between them, too.

Cats and dogs in the same house can be a tumultuous time if you are not sure how to bring the union together. There are books that you can read and information that you can find online that will help you understand their individual needs and make the whole process a little easier on everyone.
