Though the bathroom may not be the biggest room in the house, it is probably the most important. It is your personal private space where you can contemplate the day gone by. If you are thinking of upgrading your bathroom, there are many ways to make it feel more pleasant and relaxing. It is also an important room in terms of the value of your home and a great bathroom can be a massive selling point for your property. A worst case scenario would be to do a major overhaul that includes updating the bath, shower, toilet and wash basin. Alternatively, you may want to replace a tatty shower curtain with a clear screen to provide a cleaner look and feel. These are pretty cheap and very easy to install. New tiles on the wall or floor of the bathroom can be very effective and can offer a clean, sleek look to the room and are also very simple to maintain. Make sure that whatever flooring you buy will be able to hold up to the humidity in your bathroom.

Other than changing out the main appliances in your bathroom, you can easily do other things to give your bathroom a brand new look. You can think of what color scheme you would like for the bathroom. Soft furnishings such as bath mats, curtains or blinds and lots of soft, fluffy towels can be co-ordinated. With a huge selection of options, you should take your time and have fun coming up with the design of your bathroom. Splashes of color can be added by pictures on the wall or creating a focal point which could include a potted plant or an arrangement of scented candles. Candles also provide a wonderful aroma which is also important to create a sensual feel. You can also do other inexpensive yet effective changes like adding a new toilet roll holder, a new soap dispenser or a toilet brush.

Finally, make sure you have adequate storage to hide away those bathroom essentials, keeping the look tidy and perhaps, most importantly, clean.
