It's probably the most expensive small fan I ever got but it is worth it for the quality. I don't tolerate heat well at all and when I made plans to attend an all-day outdoor event in Eastern NC a few weeks ago, I knew I had to bring something other than just a sweatband. Air won't reach you. You have to hold it up to your face to feel anything.
This is a really good product, and it was a pity that it wasn't well executed but I think the company has got it sorted out now. I have no complaints now and I love this product when it really helps on those hot days.
I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone. This is one of those rare products that looks cool in the ads and then when you get it is even better than you expected.
My daughter found the Handy Cooler online and sent me the link. I found the product to be very intriguing, opposed to the pile of personal fans that were cluttering my desktop, end tables, car, purse and trash can. My fellow cubical clerks look at this thing and I see from their eyes they want to steal it. Too bad I lock it in my drawer every day after work. It's not too big in size and not too heavy to carry around. It was 90 degrees and an obese person like me does not take the heat well.
I also was expecting to use it in my car which does not have A/C and on trips like going to Disney. But sadly in a room with the inside temperature of around 77F-78F this device does not cool very much. It does help you cool down, but I only notice maybe a 10 degree change, not 30 degrees. I tried it outside, it helped keep me cooler, but in dry or high heat, the sponge doesn't stay wet for 8 hours...maybe 1-2 at the most. I've had this for just over a week and being using it daily at work and at home. It works great, fairly quiet and I got no complaints so far. I read the reviews both good and bad before ordering this item. I was a bit skeptical but ordered the product to try anyway. The way it works is very similar to those misting fans you see at some of the patio restaurants but this is a portable one and doesn't spray water in the air. Of course, my expectations could have been pretty low, but it's been good.
I live in the Mojave Desert and as such carry something to keep me cool, and this is perfect. The company was quick to address any questions I had and as such I have bragged and shared this little gem with all my friends, and in turn 4 of my friends have purchased one for themselves!
It's designed for you to be held in the palm but I much prefer it sitting on my desk as a desk fan. It's very quiet and very comfortable.
