I just adore vintage perfume advertisements. The women always look so feminine, so elegant, and they always seem to appear like they are in some sort of dream. Don't you just love what these vintage perfume ads evoke?

I also love the description on the vintage Elizabeth Arden perfume ad "laughing, lilting, flower happy-fragrance is timeless as a dream of summertime..." that description alone makes me want to spritz myself all over and "abandon myself to Blue Grass" What perfume do you wear?

Retro + Vintage Advertisements: Getting Around Town

I wouldn't say I'm a car buff, in fact I'm pretty far from it. I couldn't tell you the difference between one maker from another other than I prefer the shape of this one more than that one. But anyhow, I do quite like vintage cars and despite me not knowing all the proper terminology, I can certainly appreciate their appearance.




My vintage dream car is the Fiat 1200 Spyder which is known for it's cuteness. Seriously, it's so damn cute. I want to ride around town in one with a scarf in my hair.

Pin Up Inspired Vintage Jantzen Advertisements from the 1940s and 1950s

I find the women in these vintage Jantzen advertisements so incredibly attractive. So curvy and womanly! I really hate that nowadays being "curvy" is associated with not being skinny. Curves are beautiful! Thin or not. I'm a tiny gal and wish I had a few extra curves to better fill out my vintage clothes. I wish I looked like Betty Grable in a vintage bathing suit!

Dating Vintage Tip: Browsing vintage advertisements is a fantastic way of dating vintage especially if you know the source of the advertisement! For instance, these vintage coat ads were all featured in 1955, therefore you can gather that coats of similar shape and style were probably popular the year before and the year after. And if the ad/editorial is in VOGUE you can pretty much guarantee similar styles made of less luxurious materials were common several years after. (Remember, Vogue was one of the pioneers of forward thinking fashion... therefore it took awhile for the styles to trickle down to the masses...)
